The Republic of Monte Cristo has its' own monetary system, the Soldo, currently valued at 2.00 USD. Paper currency is planned but currently not printed or in circulation. The Republic has minted collector coinage for the two years (2005 and 2006) and is currently designing the 2009 coins, which we anticipate will be available in the Summer or Fall of this year. Our recently minted silver & black nickel bimetallic coin, in BU condition, a giant 1.75 inch diameter beauty with pirate/privateer Dragut in colorized orange and blue, and a loving tribute to His Holiness, John Paull II.  Sadly this coin is now sold out. In the summer of 2008 our own Count Stephen was arrested in Washington DC for protesting the high tariffs on the import of Monte Cristo prosciutto ham.
